The project "Volunteers working with children and youngsters IV" consists of four EVS activities. akzente Salzburg is coordinating organisation for four hosting organisations. Insel/Haus der Jugend was hostig Alfonso Marón Nunez, a long-termed-unemployed man from Spain and Clélya Quebriac, a young woman from France. Kinderfreunde were hosting Encarna Perez Moreno, a student from Spain, who unfortunately had to leave in the end of December to finish her studies. Youthcenter Get2Gether was hosting Jasna Hasanspahic, a student from Bosnia and Herzegovina. Youthcenter Oberndorf was hosting Julia Cadórniga Martínez, a Spanish language-assistant from Spain who lived in Germany before her EVS and therefor has a German sending organisation.
Our objective is to develop solidarity and to facilitate understanding and tolerance by hosting European volunteers. We think that with active participation we can follow our aim and we can influence everyone involved positively. The volunteers had many opportunities to show and experience the positive sides of intercultural diversity which influenced the people they met in the host organizations, the surroundings, their family and friends, and of course the volunteers themselves.
The volunteers who are doing their EVS in Salzburg are mainly together with up to twelve other volunteers from other European countries. Mostly they do also met about once a month at akzente at our so-called „EVS breakfast“ or at free-time activities. As they met each other regularly they could spend time with each other, talk to each other, and like this identify common values with other young people from different countries in spite of their cultural differences. Also in the projects themselves the volunteers had the possibility to get to know people from other countries – Austrians as well as people from other parts of the world. Because of this the volunteers were also stimulated to reflect on the essential characteristics of European society. As all of them had the possibilities to start own projects within the host organizations they also learned to be creative and active and understand that they play an active role - in their projects, in their communities and in society. As all of the host organizations are open minded and eager to host a volunteer from another European country they aiim to build a common Europe.
