Petrklíč help o.s. is an organization that has been focusing on multicultural topics for many years. We create a multicultural center, organize public cultural events, meetings with traveler’s and volunteers from other towns and cities etc. We believe that being involved in European voluntary service will help us reach our goals and develop our organization. Volunteers will help to strengthen the multicultural aspect of our activities and bring their own initiative as well.Our motivation to host volunteers is clear - our main aim is to work with multicultural topics in general. We want to make use of multicultural potential of our region, where two cultures – Polish and Czech – meet. At the same time our location is dealing with stereotypes on daily basis. We would like the volunteer to be an example of another culture and to show that there is a lot to gain from experiencing new culture. Above all we are looking forward to work with volunteer’s own ideas.In the past we organized international youth exchange called Backpack journalism and coordinated international projects (e.g. Visegrad four). Since the very beginning we’ve been cooperating with volunteers as an inherent part of our organization. At the moment we are hosting one volunteer from Turkey whom we consider a very important element enriching our multicultural environment.Our organization is based in Česky Těšín – a border city with Poland and close to Slovak border. It is a fortunate location that brings positive aspect to our community.The volunteer will stay for 12 months and will be involved in a variety of activities offered by our organisation such as:- project creation, management, evaluation and closing.- being part of organization team of multicultural festival Svatek caje/Swieto herbaty and other festivals like Earth Week, Snow Film Fest of Outdoor Film festival- organizing multicultural events and meetings with travellers- realization of the tea degustations- taking care of the English library counting 340 books- taking care of the community urban garden - educational events with children and youth The volunteer will learn working in the active and developing team, organizing festivals, cultural events, having access to library, gaining project management and teamwork skills. Bringing his/her own ideas helps to give new fresh energy to the local community and shows that working in diverse environment can be inspirational and helpful for the future development of volunteer, society and new ideas.
