Volunteers in the Global Village
Date du début: 1 mai 2015, Date de fin: 31 oct. 2015 PROJET  TERMINÉ

The project ?Volunteers in a Global Village? was created by young people and it is a response to their needs. These needs expand to the international scale, since they tackle crucial matters such as: active citizenship and youth unemployment. Often, we encounter social problems which have been rooted in the lack of information, in youth unemployment and in the absence of youth participation in the society. It is important to address the ways in which youth could boost their opportunities in taking part in their communities for a win-win situation, where both the community and the youngsters will gain life-long skills, such as intercultural competences, entrepreneurship abilities and a proactive mindset. Thus, the main objectives of the project are to enhance employability prospects and to increase the sense of initiative and self-empowerment of the participants, through a better understanding of EU values and through fostering their motivation for taking part in future trainings or youth projects. All the activities developed for this project are focused on non-formal methods of learning. The participants will be the main actors in discussions, debates and brainstorming sessions. In addition, the activities will be divided in two categories. The first set of activities will focus merely on the content of the exchange programme, therefore on enhancing the participants? knowledge and hard skills, such as ICT competences. The objectives of this set of activities are: ? Better understanding of the causes and consequences of youth unemployment ? Increased awareness of mobility opportunities within the Erasmus+ platform ? Develop IT competences and improved learning performance The second set of activities is aimed to foster cohesion among the group of participants during the programme, throughout team-building activities and ice-breaking games. Functional and productive group dynamics are important for generating optimal outcomes and for a pleasant exchange experience. Moreover, during the team-building activities participants will have the opportunity to express their personality and show their creativity. The cultural evenings, planned to be held every day of the project, will be an added value for getting to know each culture better. The objectives for these activities are: ? Broaden intercultural competences ? Improved presentation and group work abilities ? Boosted self-esteem and critical thinking ? Better time and information management skills The broader objectives of the project concern raising awareness of the global issues of unemployment and finding sustainable methods to approach the problem. The aim of the project is to foster participants? contribution to positive social change and develop their initiatives to make their voice heard. Youth are future leaders, decision makers, therefore it is important to boost their potential. The project is designed as a platform where young people get-together, discuss and create local activities with global visions. The activities of the projects will focus on two directions: develop participants? skills and increase their motivation for participatory citizenship, which will meet the general objectives of the project. Another reason for hosting the project in Jordan was to offer the opportunity to better understand the complex background of MENA countries (cultural, political, social). The youth exchange raises several questions, arrousing participants? curiosity to discover each other, countries, learn from each other. The schedule of the project start off with introductory and team-building activities, important for the group cohesion, continuing with tackling the topics of youth unemployment and active citizenship. The red line is structured on the context, causes, empowerement, skilss development and nonetheless, evaluation. The participants will also have the opportunity to discover the local realities and meet people working within Jordanian NGOs in order to understand indepth the challenges they face. After youth exchange ? boiling down a plan and a list of ways to fight youth unemployment and to promote volunteering as a life style Countries involved: Latvia, Romania, Italy,Jordan, Lebanon, Egypt Planned dates: September, October.
