The short-term EVS project involves 10 volunteers from France, Poland, Italy and Romania and and is the result of cooperation between six organizations - HO/CO organization from Ukraine and SOs from France, Poland, Italy and Romania. Project activities will take place in the city of Sumy over a period of 2 months - (01/02/14 - 31/03/14). Objectives: the project is aimed at promotion and enhancing of the active citizenship among European and Ukrainian youth; promoting family values, understanding of cultural diversity; raising awareness about the opportunities of EVS among Ukrainian youth; fostering of tolerance among young people.We will engage European youth into working with deprived children (orphans, children from singe-parent families, children deprived of parental care, etc.) and in collaboration with local Ukrainian volunteers organize a series of events for these children. Implemented activities: During the introductory week the volunteers will participate in the general meeting where they will learn and get acquainted with the NGOs working in the sphere of childcare and will be paired with the local Ukrainian volunteers with whom they will work in the course of the project. In the second stage of the project the volunteers will come up with the concept of fundraising. The task of the volunteers will be to contact various small local businesses and enterprises and get them to participate in our initiative by donating different useful products (art materials, stationary, hand craft materials, etc) to our cause. In the end the volunteers will join together and will organize a celebration (or a series of workshops) for the deprived children and will use the materials collected during their fundraising action. Methods: discussion groups; workshops on project design, management and implementation, fundraising techniques; facilitating shared information and collaboration between organizations; development of future EVS opportunities for Ukrainian youth.
