Volunteers across frontiers

“Volunteers across frontiers” is an EVS project developed in the context of the EU-China Year of Youth and involves two countries: Romania and China. The project consists in sending 11 young volunteers from 3 organizations from Romania, of which all are young people with fewer opportunities, to volunteer for a month in organizations from South East China, in the city Guangzhou.11 volunteers from 3 different backgrounds: with fewer opportunities (rural areas, with economic difficulties, with HIV, from orphanages) mixed with other young people will work together with a similarly mixed group of young people from China (mental disabilities, economic difficulties) for one month to:1. promote volunteering and non-formal education as a tools for mutual understanding across cultures.2. stimulate personal development of the volunteers through intercultural experiences.3. develop solidarity and mutual understanding between young people. The volunteers will promote volunteering and non-formal education as a tools for mutual understanding across cultures by building a reference material with non-formal education methods that can be used in environments where language is a barrier in communication (social animation and other tools); These methods will come to life in 4 dissemination workshops organized and implemented by the volunteers where the tools and methods identified in the brochure will be put into practice together with the children from 4 different local communities. The promoters of Volunteers across Frontiers are: CADDRU – The Assistence Centre for the Sustainable Development of Human Resources, Chance for Life Foudation, Arad Student Organisation, Guangzhou Yang Ai Special Children Parent Club, Bei Dou Xing Social Work Service Centre of Guangzhou, Guangzhou Agape Social Service Center.
