A democratic society needs many dymanimics to maintain its properties. Félag Horizon's members long past as volunteering social workers has given them the knowledge that, civil activity in the society is one of them. The civilian has to take part and be visible in the society, and try to find solutions to the problems wich may occur. This is why Félag Horizon see volunteering work as a very important thing, and want to tell other people about. This project will be about Volunteering Work and Responsibility. With this project, Félag Horizon will gather 25 young people from Denmark, Sweden and Iceland, and let them work in 5 whole days with volunteering work and responsibility. There will be 10 from Denmark, 10 from Sweden and 5 from Iceland who will participate in this project. The reasons why we are doing this, is many. Volunteering work have both effects on the person who are doing it, the association that organizes the work, the people who gets the service of the volunteering work, the municipality and the state will benefit from this also by having active responsible civilians working for the community. The participants of this projects will gather in Reykjavik in 6 days, and be attending lectures, work in workshops, and develope projects in different themes. The themes will be about; what is democrasy, the responsibility as a citizen, the importance of volunteering social work, the danger of ignorance, egoism vs. altruism etc. The projects will brightens the young peoples mind upon volunteering work, and will give them a motivation for it to the rest of their lives. They will meet with other young people from different countries upon same interests and same goals, which will start a synergy, which may help the young people gaining the feeling of responsibility, as a person and a citizen. Last but not least, their international horizon will be brightened up, and it will make them think in a brighter perspective in their future lives. EU should fund this projects because this projects will give the young people an understanding of what what democracy is, and what is a citizens responsibilities in a democracy. This will give them a feeling of responsibility and more sensitive against problems in the society. Those young people will only strenghten the democrasy in every country.
