Volunteering at European Youth Olimpic Festival Győr 2017
Date du début: 1 nov. 2016, Date de fin: 31 oct. 2017 PROJET  TERMINÉ

The next European Youth Olympic Festival (EYOF), which is the multi-sport event in the Olympic tradition specifically for European youth athletes (15-17 year olds), will be organized in Győr in July2017 with more than 3500 athletes. In the framework of the Erasmus+ Sport Programme the Municipality of the City of Győr would like to implement a project aiming the professional recruitment, selection, training and management of volunteers at the EYOF Győr 2017 and also their retention for future in grassroots level sport activities. Nowadays Győr is not only referred to as the City of Meetings and Rivers, but also as the sportiest city of Hungary. In the past few years Győr has become the host for may international events, gaining more organizing and volunteering experience for the EYOF 2017. We would like to deal with volunteering issues because there are clear differences between Member States, whilst certain EU Member States have longstanding traditions and well developed voluntary sectors, in others the voluntary sector is still emerging or poorly developed. It is especially true for the post-communist countries because of several social causes. The main goals of this project are the effective achievement and information of potential participants; targeted involvement of new volunteers and their long-term commitment; and providing high level professional experiences for them. In order to know their motivations, in 2015 we carried out a survey among potential young volunteers in the area of Győr. The Work Programme of this project was developed based on results of this research; and there about 1200 volunteers will be involved primarily from Győr and its surroundings and about 10% from the 50 participated countries of all over Europe. Our mission is that the voluntary activities of EYOF can contribute to employability, social inclusion as well as higher civic participation at local, regional, national and also European level, especially among young people.
