The EVS project "Volunteer for Europe" involves two volunteers from Poland. Project is a result of cooperation between FII (Foundation Institute of Innovations) and CEI (Center of European Initiatives). Project activities were planned to take place in the city of Sumy over a period of 12 months from 01/09/2014 to 31/08/2015. Unfortunately, due to the increase of military conflict at the Eastern Ukraine, the recruitment process of the volunteers was hampered. As a result, the project was delayed till 01/11/2014. It lasted till 31/10/2015, but one of the volunteers decided to shorten his stay for 6 months only. The primary objective was fulfilled: the exchange of information and experience between two different European countries and societies: Polish and Ukrainian. Participating in Sumy Regional Youth Euroclubs, the volunteers developed solidarity and cross border relationships between Ukrainian youth and their European neighbours. Together they learned to appreciate the broad diversity that exists in Europe and helped to strengthen the way to a larger, more encompassing European Union. Planned activities: participating in and leading Euroclubs, with involvement of local school youths, focused on promoting European values, active citizenship, civic responsibility, community service, teaching leadership skills to youth and providing them with knowledge about the EU, European integration, what it means to be European citizen; promotion of cultural diversity and breaking stereotypes about home countries of volunteers in the local community; promotion of voluntary service among local youth; strengthening the Sumy Network of Euroclubs. Planned Methods: leading discussion groups and intercultural workshops; workshops on EU issues, project design, management and implementation; facilitating shared information and collaboration between organizations; conducting native language clubs; development of future EVS opportunities for Ukrainian youth.
