Voluntarism - a link that connects us
Date du début: 1 janv. 2015, Date de fin: 1 avr. 2016 PROJET  TERMINÉ

Through this long term EVS project “Voluntarism – a link that connects us!” 1 volunteer from Croatia (Nikolina, 26) volunteered for a year in an NGO in Serbia (from 2.2.2015. - 27.1.2016.). This project gave volunteer the possibility to acquire experience and knowledge about intercultural dialogue, voluntary service, and civil society in general by living and working in Serbia - a country which is in a process of EU integration. Project contributed to building one European identity from grassroots level. This project reached the aim of intensifying co-operation between youth organizations in Croatia and Serbia. Volunteer worked closely with local volunteers and contributed to the promotion of volunteering and intercultural work in general. This way volunteer made an impact in the local community. This project also raised the awareness on importance of voluntary work via: intercultural workshops, stimulating members of local partner-organisations to work as volunteers in projects of social importance, contributing to the social and intercultural development of young people. Simply hosting an international volunteer and working together with her in one team contributed a lot to that process. The organisations involved are planning to continue with similar initiatives in the future. During her voluntary service, volunteer gained many personal, social as well as professional skills. Motivated, inspired and enriched with new skills and competences she easily found a job and went to work in China immediately after her EVS ended. So, this project definitely had a strong positive impact on volunteer as well as on partner organizations involved in the project.
