The project „Berufsausbildung international“ is an extensively prepared and accompanied two or three weeks abroad staying and training. This is for selected apprentices of the dual education system. The apprentices, who can optionally spend their abroad staying and training in the region Izmir/ Torbali (Turkey) or Cordoba/ Anadalusia (Spain) learn a profession which is characterized very internationally (e.g. in tourism, hospitality industry and wholesale, administration and technical metal professions). In total 40 apprentices from the metropolitan region Nürnberg shall take part in this project within two years (01st February 2016 – 31 December 2017). For each destination 20 apprentices are envisaged. It is planned to have a division of 4 small groups with 5-6 participants. The aim of the project is like in the already successfully finished project Leonardo Da Vinci to enpower the participants in their social, intercultura and professional skills. They should learn or deepen country-specific professional skills and techniques, technical terminology and regional studies skills. They should establish contacts, gain practical experiences about work realities and the vocational world in other European countries. In order to achieve this, all participants are prepared before the foreign assignment during a three months preparatory period at the AAU e.V. in Nürnberg for (technical) language, skills, regional studies and intercultural for their staying.Our experience from the successfully acomplished project Leonardo Da Vinci have shown that the planned time of preparing was needed and efficient. After this two or three weeks an optionally staying abroad or practical training in the region of Cordoba or Torbali/Izmir will follow. During this stay the time off work will be for getting to know the host region from the working, professional, economical and sociocultural point of view. The basic content of the staying abroad is traineeship in a company of the hosting country. This company covers the requirements of the participants’ training occupation in a professionally qualified way. The participants will be integrated in the working processes as much as possible and they will get an insight in the required skills, techniques and working processes. Moreover, in Turkey there will be the possibility to join lesson units at the vocational school. For the youth with immigration background the aspect of empowerment plays an important role: during the project they learn that their bilingualism and their intercultural socialization experiences are important qualifications which are of great value for their personal as well as their working life. The employees of our partner organizations will accompany the company’s internship and will support the organization during the staying. The partner organizations will send parallel to this application similar project applications to the national agencies of their countries. In case of an approval of these projects the participants from Turkey and Spain will act as mentors of the participants from Nürnberg. Primarily, we except the participants to gain more experience and competence during the learning stay in Spain and Turkey. This should enable them later to a professional mobility. Furthermore, the AAU e.V. wishes to continue with the created cooperations in order to establish a collaboration with the IHK für Mittelfranken (chamber of commerce for Mittelfranken) an European collaborative training, which includes the mobility within Europe as a main component.
