Date du début: 1 juil. 2014, Date de fin: 30 juin 2015 PROJET  TERMINÉ

1. Context and objectives: We are a school complex (Ecole du Petit Paris) gathering a a nursery school and an elementary school. 202 pupils divide up into eight classes: 4 nursery classes and 4 elementary classes. The school is situated in a popular district of Brest, Britanny. We welcome pupils of varied origins. In the school, 50 % of the teachers are authorized to teach English (2 are in nursery school, 2 in elementary). From September, 2014 untill 2017, the municipality of Brest goes into a strategic partnership with the city of Plymouth within the framework of a project Erasmus +. Our school has been chosen to take part in this partnership. We wish that two teachers of our school participate in the training course organized by SILC in Oxford in October 2014. This training course is for our school, our team, an axis of preparation essential to this strategic partnership. Indeed, this partnership will ally our school to a school of Plymouth (probably the school of Chaddlewood). To take advantage at best of this exchange to come, we need to improve our european culture but also our language skill. This exchange with Plymouth will put in relation the teaching teams of both countries but also the pupils. This training course Erasmus + will allow both candidate teachers of: - Strengthen and improve language skills in English - Discover new educational approaches. - Strengthen the consciousness of European citizen. For the pupils of the school: - On the return to this training course, the teachers can propose English in non-linguistic subjects (sports, visual Arts, Sciences...) via the interdisciplinarity. The pupils will so live the English learning in action from the small section to the 5th year of primary school. - Through the project of strategic partnership with Plymouth, we shall exchange with the English correspondents of Chaddlewood, the situation of communication will be then real and very rewarding: - Project " young reporters of the arts and the sciences "; - Project " week of the science " and philosophy - Creation and representation of a musical comedy in a French and English language. - Project " spring of the poets " (described projects higher) 2. Number and teachers' profile: Among 4 teachers authorized to teach English at school, we have chosen to be candidate in the training course in Oxford a teacher in nursery school as well as a teacher in primary school. This choice answers the desire to federate and revitalize the whole team around the English learning from the youngest age and in non-linguistic disciplines. 3. Methodology of the project management This "European" project is followed by our team of district (Inspector of the Education and the educational advisers) as well as by the international mission of the city of Brest. 4. Description of the results and the envisaged impacts: - After two weeks of training course in Oxford, the teachers will expose to the school and to the laic patronage of the district their experience (photo, video, journey diary, songs for children, albums of youth literature) - The pupils will expose their works in arts and sciences on the theme of the sea to the school, to the patronage, to Océanopolis and will exchange these works with their correspondents of Plymouth through Etwinning. - The musical comedy will be opened to the families of the school and the district. The school will so be known and recognized in the city of Brest as an English pole. 5. Long-term potential profits: The school so makes a commitment in a dynamics of English learning in interdisciplinarity. We wish our pupils dare to speak english naturally and will not be shy in doing it. The teachers authorized to teach english at school but also the 4 others want to improve their language and cultural skills. The strategic partnership of our city with that of Plymouth plans moments of formation or dumping for all the team (discussions in English, visit of the school of Plymouth, meeting in Brest and in Plymouth of both teaching staffs, meetings of the pupils in Plymouth and in Brest). For our school, this training course in Oxford is really the starting point of a school which would become European. Indeed, international classes have recently opened in some French primary schools, we can then ask ourselves the question of the bilingualism for all in a project of success of the pupils.
