Vivilforte
Date du début: 31 août 2003, Date de fin: 29 juin 2004 PROJET  TERMINÉ

The system of fortifications in the North-Cadses area was defined in the last few years both at territorial level (in Italy and Slovenia) and in terms of heritage-architectural priorities. In these areas, the project aims at setting up a system for the promotion of three areas, Chioggia, Mestre - Venice, Bovec by means of historical re-enactments and far-reaching dissemination systems targeting the local population. The project was inspired by the common existing military architecture, in order to highlight the moments and the particular aspects that characterised relations between Venice and the Alpine Slovenian Community of the Isonzo and Natisone valleys throughout their historical evolution from the 1400s to the dissolution of the Republic of Venice. The project consists of a historical study to be drawn up on the relations between selected areas, the organisation of historical re-enactments set in fortified sites dating back to the 1500s and 1800s in the Partner Towns and two workshops on the State reorganisations that followed Napoleonic transformations and the defence arrangements set up in the city of Venice and along north-eastern borders in the 1500s. The closing conference focuses on relations between the Republic of Venice and the ethnic communities on the border. The projects initiatives contribute to promoting historical-cultural bonds between the Venetian area and the Slovenian one in the Valleys of Isonzo and Natisone, with a resulting opening up of new prospects in terms of tourism and cultural exchange as well as to making the fortifications and abandoned military installations accessible to the population at large.
