VISIBLE - Gender sensitive teaching and counselling in basic vocational education 2006-2008

The education system plays an important role in creating ideas about gender that are often unconscious ways to deal with female and male students. Teachers should be aware of mechanisms that continue to reproduce the gender stereotypes and become attentive to gender sensitive teaching and counselling methods. The project intends to develop a good practice guide and methods to make teachers of all levels (initial, further and continuing training) aware of gender issues. Its aims are: to review, evaluate and summarize previous LdV and European projects’ results and impact on the theme, in order to further develop the instruments that have been proved to be the most efficient; to produce a set of concrete working tools that can be adopted in different countries.
