Background to the projectOur school is a primary and lower secondary school for 7- to 16-years old, which is situated in the centre of Aarhus, Denmark.The overall objectives are to prepare our pupils to participate and act in the global world. Thus we wish to equip our pupils with high qualifications and skills, and intercultural competences. We wish that the teaching in our school should include a global perspective. Likewise we wish that teachers with high professional skills, possession of and knowledge of intercultural competences should execute the teaching. We emphasize in our in-service training strategy 20162018 to improve the qualifications and skills of our science teachers, with a view to raising the scientific standards with our pupils.We wish that the professional improvement took place in a foreign forum; hereby it would facilitate the acquisition of intercultural competences to our teachers. Objectives of our project- after completed the course our attending teachers will have obtained higher professional and intercultural qualifications- raising of the scientific standards with our pupils- our pupils acquire intercultural competences on a larger scaleNumber and profile of participants10 persons will participate. The persons who will participate in the project are teachers who teach science. Thus they will bring a scientific professionalism into the project. Description of the activities, and the carrying out the projectThe project will contain two activities – course and job shadowing:• methodical and professional qualification with our scientific teachers, and thus higher scientific standards with our pupils• knowledge and understanding of the importance of the acquisition of cultural competences with pupils and teachers• an implementation and anchorage of intercultural competences in the teaching at our school, and thus a bigger acquisition of cultural competences with our pupils• a share of knowledge in the three sections of the school, so that the anchorage and the use of the profits of the project will become possible• contact to foreign teachers with a view to cooperating, sharing of didactics and teaching courses, if possible via etwinning.comSchedule - courses and job shadowingCourses: Using schooleducationgateway we have found a science/mathematics course which we believe will comply with our needs at present time.Link of the couser: http://www.schooleducationgateway.eu/en/pub/tools/catalogue/detail.cfm?id=4250Job shadowing: Via Aarhus Academy for Global Education we have established a contact to Aylward Academy, Windmill Road, Edmonton, London (http://www.aylwardacademy.org). We presume that our job shadowing will take place at this institution.
