It is necessary to conduct the project "Improving the quality of foreign language teaching and promotion of creativity and increased pupil motivation in the English Language Classroom" because our continual goal is to strengthen and improve the quality of teaching and our school community. Comparative exams, like Vera or Exams in Year 10, have shown that we need improvement in these areas as well. Therefore impulses acquired through In-Service-Training in other countries are absoutely essential. These incentives are mandatory for developing school life. Especially in the English department, it is very important to gain these experiences in order to broaden pupils' minds for understanding the importance of learning the English language. The course "Language and Methodology" will provide many new teaching ideas, skills and materials which can be used in our school to increase pupil motivation in class and to improve the quality of English instruction in school as well as provide professional development for the teachers. We would like to get in contact with other teachers from other countries to create pupil exchanges. The English department is involved in the project, that is about 20 teachers are involved. We are going to have symposiums or In-Service-Training at school, for example "Learning through the arts", changes in curriculum and new school books. Even in the short term, we expect these measures to increase pupil motivation. And in the long term, we would like to improve the results of class tests and exams. In addition to that, we would like to find a partner school where English is spoken.
