It is of great importance to our school that our teachers continually work on and improve their language skills, as well as their didactic- methodological competence. This contributes improving significantly the quality of teaching and the motivation of our teachers and students. The elected course (2 Week Course for European Teachers: Focus on Scotland) is aimed at these competences. Morever, the course's focus is on Scotland (Scottish history, traditions, culture, education) and thus develops intercultural competence of the participants. Cultural aspects are one of the "Matura" topics and thus especially important for our teachers to be trained in this field. Another major reason for choosing this course is the exchange of ideas and to develop links with colleagues at this course designed for European teachers at secondary level. The two weeks' course includes Workshops on Teaching English as a Foreign Language, Advanced Language Practice, Workshops on Scottish Culture, Traditions, Literature and History. In addition, recent developments and current issues in education will be dealt with and lessons will be observed at Scottish Secondary school. The elected teacher for this course is a young English and Spanish teacher, highly commited to her job and to improving her skills. At the end of this course our teacher will have improved her language skills. Furter, the quality of teaching will improve in the whole school, as the acquired new skills, ideas and motivating materials will be presented and passed on to the other teachers.
