We plan two projects with the same goals: First, our teaching staff should get educated in the fields of methodology/didactics, foreign language skills and intercultural competence to improve their professional work in school. Secondly, we are aiming for a more international school's profile. Thus we hope for long-term relations to other European partner institutions (esp. public schools) with which we would like to establish exchange programs for our students. In the years 2014/2015 we plan with two on-the-job trainings within the Erasmus+ framework. Both might be joined by the same teacher who will function as a multiplicator at out school. The two projects aim for a) content and language integrated learning and b) a variety of methods within the English as foreign language classroom. a) The London-based ADC College offers a training on CLIL with is specifically designed for teachers who start working in this field. It contains an introductory overview as well as teaching practice parts. b) The Stay Academy designed a course named "Creativity in the English Classroom" which is explicitly made for foreign language instructors who want to improve their teaching skills. Methodology in foreign language teaching and intercultural competence are two main keypoints of this program. As for the procedure and realisation of the class it is the company who mainly signs responsible - next to the teachers who take part themselves. Of course our school hopes for long-term benefits resulting from these on-the-job trainings: A more international orientation of our school's profile and highly-qualified colleagues who are able to teach English in a modern, advanced, and motivated way.
