Structural change and very rapid technical progress make high demands on the vocational schools to contribute adequately to the training of young people. Furthermore it is necessary to prepare students for a common European labor market with free choice of employment.
The requirements for skilled workers and therefore also on the training have changed. In addition to high professional competence in foreign languages , personal competence, media competence and intercultural competence are equally required.
Social Networks are very popular with young people. Almost everybody uses them. It is a unique opportunity for the teacher to use this motivating aspect in class. Furthermore students have to learn about the dangers that are related to these networks.
To provide the students with these competences requires from the teachers themselves to master this and continue to be highly motivated to address these challenges. Lifelong learning and training is required here . To enhance knowledge of foreign languages , in particular to improve or refresh English skills requires stays in an English speaking country and contacts with native speakers. New ICT tools facilitate and improve the curricular possibilities of the teacher.
The school has an obligation to prepare the students for the continuously changing requirements of the labour market and to enhance their employability and to create the opportunities for the teachers to be able to do so.
