Rationale of the project
Thousands of society members in different regions of Europe, especially young people on the move, have to solve their daily issues with alimentation. Erasmus students, young people in the beginning of their career, free movers, daily workers or unemployed people can not afford to eat qualitaly each day. Lots of them end up eating fast food or semi-prepared products, often of poor quality.
General longer term objective
The project aims to promote healthy cooking patterns of easy but quality recipes to push people to make and create their own healthy meals instead of going to fast food chains or buying semi-prepared food.
Specific objective of the project
The project’s objective is to set up a collaborative multi platform interactive tool (web interface followed by the interactive applications for touch screen devices and a printable eBook edition) presenting recipes adapted to the identified needs. With the multi-platform project we intend to show an alternative way to improve quality of people's lives, reduce dependence on the consumption system and make them active and self-sufficient for their own life and their own health.
Activities
The collaborative work process is focussed on compilation of food research, development of healthy life patterns and recipes collection, as well as on media creation, creativity, innovation and strategic use of information technologies. In collaboration with young professionals, structures and a designed community we will research and establish the principal criteria for the choice of recipes, such as the easiness (time limit, dish limit, material limit, storage), affordability (price) of finished meal, limited number of ingredients, nutritious quality and learning process (some competence or basic cooking skills for future experimentation should be given). Based on similar criteria we will look for and collect recipes, which will have to be verified afterwards. We design a research summary that will serve also as an introduction about alimentary systems, about food and its importance. During the program, a series of cooking workshops will be held for local target groups in the partner countries. During the Transnational Project Meetings all partners will test the recipes in practice and will document all activities. A final manifesto including informations on how to organize similar local events, how to work and involve people will be published on our website. The dissemination of our project will start with the creation of a web interface with an interactive collection of recipes and food-related information. During the whole process we will discuss all issues and consider feedback from the community in order to produce a tool responding directly to our target group's needs. A management community and its rules, including technical aspects, will be set up at the final stage of the project.
Sustainability of the project
The project's sustainability will be assured by the active collaborative community around the project and by the renewal of users, based on a sustainable crowd sourcing model.
The aim is to guarantee an autonomous and independent e-community which will contribute to the project's continuity and future development. With the sustainable crowd sourcing model and a sustainable and self-powered tool management, the project community will have a constant renewal of users and continuous promotion.
Partnership
“Veni Vidi Comedi : The Cooking Europe Project” is a project undertaken, set up and carried out by young people. A partnership of 4 countries and 5 different partners is established: Luxembourg (Lisel), Italy (Fuori Programma), Greece (CulturePolis & Creative Web Applications) and Latvia (Social Innovation Centre) will participate in the project.
The coordinating organisation Lisel is an association for students initiatives and services and during all project activities Lisel will cover Central European, Slavic and Germanic countries. Fuori Programma, a non-profit young association which focuses on the promotion of young people's needs, will cover Mediterranean & English speaking countries. CulturePolis, a forum for culture sustainability and innovation, represents the Balkan region. Social Innovation Centre establishes the networking for social innovation thus enhancing the sustainable development of society and covers the Baltic and Nordic countries. Creative Web Applications is an IT startup company providing solutions for Internet applications and has experience in developing websites and apps.
Each of the 5 partners works with young people and pushes the youth to be active in society. Most of the structures work closely with EVS and have networks of youth volunteers in the regions they cover as well as connections with supporting structures that will help to bring the project to a successful end.
