The aim of Ferenc Hansági Vocational and Secondary School for Catering and Tourism is to train competitive professionals, whose skills are up to the European standards and love their vocations. Thus the school puts special emphasis on providing foreign vocational practice of high standard, which also enhances the attractiveness of the school. This year we would like to get support within the 1st category (KA1) of the Erasmus + framework for the traineeship of our 25 VET trainees (pastry chef, chef, waiter) and the one-week-long experience exchange programme of one of our pastry chef trainers at foreign companies, and 5 accompanying teachers. 21 students would take part in a one-month traineeship in the following countries: Malta, Spain, Italy, Romania, Germany and Austria, and four students would get the opportunity to spend two-month-long mobilities in Malta and Italy. The aim of our application is to maintain and improve the quality of our mobility activities having a 16-year-old history. Thus we are trying to provide foreign practice places that satisfy both the linguistic and vocational needs of the students even better. From the results of the Foreign Practice Needs Survey we found out that our students would like to travel to Mediterranean countries as they are mostly interested in the Mediterranean cuisine, gastronomy and lifestyle. This year 19 students could improve their English and 6 students their German language competencies. Within our application we do not only want to support the mobility of our current students but also our recent graduate VET students. This would be a perfect opportunity for our motivated students, who are planning short or long-term foreign work after their graduation. Foreign traineeship is especially provided for our students with good learning results and / or for highly motivated students who show outstanding commitment at the school events. When choosing the beneficiaries we are going to consider the principle of equity and we are planning to support our students with learning difficulties but high level of commitment. We are going to disseminate the events and the results of the project continuously via more channels: the internet, the website of our institution (www.hansagiisk.hu), the regional media (local newspaper: Délmagyarország, Radio 88, Local TV channels like VTV), at the school and external training places, moreover via the final dissemination programme of the project where we are going to share our experiences and also have a cooking show. The recognition of the foreign traineeships into the Hungarian VET system has been a problem for many years. We will try to solve this problem by using the ECVET tools, such as the most important tool of the VQTS model, the Competence Matrices elaborated by the ECMO German pilot project. The in-service teacher-trainer training programme of our school supports the vocational in-service training of our VET trainers, thus the second area we are applying for is the training of VET staff. It is crucial to have staff who are aware of the most-up-to-date trends in their vocations. During the mobility of our Pastry Chef trainer in Spain, the use of the Competence Matrices could be also tested during the visits at the workplaces in Lleida and the trainer could also get to know the local Catalan pastry specialities and their know-how. Our institution has had a regulation concerning the realization of foreign traineeships and exchange programmes since 2008, which regulates each part of the realization process. As a result of the staff mobility, this document could also be improved. From the aspect of quality improvement, an important result would be the regulation and documentation of the recognition and validation of the foreign traineeships. We have already signed the Memorandum of Understanding with our partners. We are going to sign a Learning Agreement with our students and the host institutions and even before the realization of the mobilities, we are going to send the Learning Units elaborated for all three vocations last year to our foreign partners for approval and also the Competence Matrices elaborated for the more effective measurement of the performance. We are going to use the Europass mobility certificate, which is suitable for the recognition and validation of the learning outcomes. Thus we get an official document about the learning outcomes, which is the base of the recognition of the acquired knowledge. This way the foreign apprenticeship, provided the student has achieved the expected competence levels set in the Learning Agreement, can replace a certain part of the compulsory work placement in the sending country. The international mobilities have a wide range of impact both on the improvement of the individual and the institution. Regarding the expected results, the biggest change will be experienced regarding the soft skills of our students. Moreover, we also expect the improvement of the foreign.
