Background In accordance with the general guidelines of the European Agency for Development in Special Needs Education, it is pursued the encouragement of local organizations and schools to overcome barriers of learning and evaluation that is posed by the adherence to the curriculum by means of development and application of Individual Educational Programmes (IEPs). Teachers in our school recognizing the great benefits that will have our educational unit by the implementation of this approach, wish to enhance their knowledge and skills in this direction by deriving experiences in individualized teaching methodologies from Member States of the European Union. Objectives The specific objective of the program is to improve the Vocational Education and Training for students with disabilities by developing basic and specific competencies in teaching staff team such as methodologies for the assessment of Special Educational Needs (SEN) and the development of an Implementation Guide for Individual Educational Program (IEP). Our overall objective is to identify the Individual Educational Needs (IEN) directly interconnected with the requirements of labour market with a prospect to increase the chances of employment for graduates of our organization in the framework of an Integrated Individual Transition Plan (ITP). Number And Profile Of Participants The target group consists of sixteen (16) special needs education teachers of various fields of expertise along with special needs education staff such as psychologists, social workers and speech therapists. Description Of Activities - Methodology Main activity of the project is a series of study visits (job shadowing) to various special needs education schools and supporting organizations located in the city of Leipzig in order to study innovative pedagogical approaches along with proved and certified evaluation methods in implementing IEPs. In this way, educators will have the opportunity to collect information according to the different and specific perspective related to their field of expertise, approaching the subject from different scientific views and further promote creative interdisciplinary dialogue. Then thematic working groups by field of expertise will be organized and further focused on the design and development of the Implementation Guide for an Individual Educational Program (IEP) and an Individual Family Service Plan (IFSP). This guide will be a key tool for the future development of IEPs for all students in our school and after their evaluation will be forwarded to other structures of special needs education for further evaluation and improvement. Expected Results - Impact - Long Term Benefits The participating Special Needs Education teachers and supporting staff: • will meet their needs in improving effectiveness and performance of educational processes by introducing innovative methods in assessing educational needs, methods observed, recorded and assessed, in actual operating conditions by means of cooperating and interviewing with their fellows teachers and supported staff during the organized study visits in foreign country institutions. • will get prepared in a well-organized and competent manner to integrate best practices and innovative methods in their daily activities and school operations by the deployment of the Guide for IEPs and thus produce various educational programs which will form an extended database of consistent educational programs with a multiplier effect in future. • will improve the working environment by introducing modern and dynamic models and tools of evaluation and assessment in accordance to educational needs since they can address in a systematic way the dynamically changing requirements in Special Needs Education (SEN). • will maximize the involvement of family environment and local professional employment agencies in effort of upgrading the educational model with the use of Individual Family Service Plan (IFSP). • will provide students with the most attractive and flexible curricula tailored to the particular specific and individual needs of students that will maximize the educational effectiveness as the convergence to educational aim will be shorter. • will gain experience of collaborating with and further expand the network of cooperation between local school and foreign institutions utilizing the personal contacts achieved in the framework of the mobility project with colleagues in Germany and thus maintain open channels of communication and cooperation with future prospect.
