SUMMARY The aim of the project “Professional development of Public Service Language Centre staff” is to enable the Centre's staff to improve their professional skills through participation in workshops and training activities in different countries of the European Union. Foreign language teaching is the main activity that the Centre undertakes alongside with active involvement in international cooperation and project work. The Centre currently is expanding its activities in teacher training by designing and offering new and innovative training workshops and seminars for language teachers. 12 employees are supposed to enhance their professional competences by participating in training activities and workshops and in later stages of the project to share their experience with colleagues and learners by integrating the acquired skills and knowledge in their daily work. The project participants will be responsible for completing their learning diary and portfolio, recording their observations and reflections as well as projecting their future learning goals. The project is managed by three employees who share their responsibilities according to their field of work: the project coordinator is responsible for the organization of the project activities, search for courses and training activities, communication with partners and colleagues, and project documentation; the project accountant is responsible for the financial operations within the project; the project administrator is in charge of the technical work. The project team and participants involved in the trainings are liable for the quality of the project activities, and the head of the institution undertakes the monitor’s role. It is expected that the participation in international training courses and seminars will help to improve communicative, linguistic and intercultural competences of the participants; their lifelong learning motivation will be strengthened; a positive attitude towards participation in European education and international cooperation programmes will be improved ; their ICT skills, the project management and administration skills will be broadened; international cooperation network of the institution will be expanded . This will contribute to the preparation of new and innovative teacher development programmes to be provided for language teachers, the development of a national ESF project meant to disseminate the ideas of multilingualism and enhance language learning among adult learners.
