Validating competences gained at the workplace in case of low qualified people
The main assumption underlying this project is the notion that the workplace is a learning environment. The learning elements involve technological development, global connections, non-formal education and training, on the job training, development of social skills such as group-work, teamwork and basic skills such as computers, languages etc. As the world of working is changing constantly, it is important to find ways to identify useful competences that can be built upon both in work and further education and training. It is important that the competences which an individual develops outside the formal school system are transparent, documented and recognized. For the individual, accreditation/recognition of non-formal/informal competences can be a strong motivational factor towards an active participation in lifelong-learning in accordance with ET2020 strategy. Through the identification of competences, the company may find it easier to develop more appropriate educational plans, that lead to improvement in quality and production. This 24 month project aims at transferring “VALID AID” project methods and tools for identifying and validating competences gained in the workplace and opening gateways to education and training to make it easier for low-qualified individuals to develop their competences, and by that secure their position on the labor market. The target group and the beneficiaries of the project are: • Low-qualified employees, who have not completed upper secondary education.• Employers• VET centres, career guidance centres, etc• Stakeholders from the 3 chosen sectors: trade, hospitality and administrationThe chosen sectors are: trade, hospitality and administration. In order to spread the progress of the project to the target sector, target groups, potential and final users, several marketing channels are used and innovative diffusion activities are undertaken. The project partnership follows a targeted and intensive dissemination activity plan including networking activities, preparation of meetings and development of several different materials for dissemination (e-mail campaign, online activity, leaflet distribution, etc.).
