Background: Bergen Voksenopplæring (BVO) is a school within the Municipality of Bergen which facilitates elementary education for adults. BVO provides next to spesific elementary eductaion for adults, also training and counselling for people affected by illness or injury. The interaction is primarily related to communication and vision skills. BVO has an extensive experience as a school unit and in lecturing basic skills. We also assist counties and other municipalities with assignments and knowledge. Our organization is based on an international environment with multilingual pupils with multi-cultural backgrounds, and the organization needs to improve its understanding of internationalization due to increase in the number of pupils with international backgrounds. BVO is currently in a restructuring process. Councillor Case 162/13 provides guidelines for the efficient use of the school and teachers' resources. Furthermore, the city council decided that BVO will develope into a school- and resource centre for special education services, serving the areas of sight disabilities, languagedifiiculties and communicationchallenges among others. This implies that the educators at BVO need to evolve and develop their methods. The demand for change and restructuring in the public sector enforces the importance of effective solutions. BVO thereby needs the interaction with other disciplines and learn their solutions to organizational and professional challenges.BVO is especially focused on individual and customized education. In the future the organization wishes to focus the counselling and training into group sessions. By cooperating with centres related to adult education in Sweden, Denmark and England we will receive valuable understanding. During the past year we have received assignments regarding the monitoring of students with a foreign language. BVO needs more knowledge of English lingual tests and assessment tools for dyslexia, dyscalculia and stuttering. Goal: * Improve the quality of BVO and its organization of services in terms of accessibility, frequency of coursing and volume of participants - June 2018 * Preparation of criteria and standards to be used in our unit for training visual impairments and compensatory aids - June 2018 * Incorporate a methodology for teaching and counselling in English using English lingual tools - June 2018 The number and identification of participants23 mobilities, shared by 15 employees consisting of speech therapists, vision educators, teachers, and their leaders. The activities consist of: 1) Two five-day courses for two speech therapists in Copenhagen consisting of a basic course and a supplementary course in voice, speech and articulation. 2) One three-day course in London for two educators, one special education teacher and the department head. Throughout the course the participants will meet colleagues who work with communication aids, and gain insight into the ever-changing learning technology. 3) One three-day course in London for three speech therapists with a particular perspective on stuttering and behavioural problems. 4) One two-day course in Stockholm for three educators, one speech therapist and one leader, where the theme is the interaction within visual impairment and speech therapy for adults. 5) One two-day course in Copenhagen for three speech therapists and one leader, with a focus on group training and teaching. 6) One three-day course in London for three speech therapists which will provide an understanding of testing and establish other tools for BVO. Method: To give the project the highest possible success rate, it is imperative to prepare well and have sound communication with associates. This is done through research online, telephone/meetings and internal meetings. BVO will be available with exchanging experiences so that the participants can learn from BVOs practice. The main activities will be structured courses and job-shadowing as well as conversations and meetings with our future partners. Results: Through this project BVO will become a better school with a broader range. By establishing new contacts within related areas in our neighbouring countries, we will get perspectives on the needs of society and our expertise. Long-term results: The lessons learned from the project will form the basis for, as well as strengthen our organization's desired growth and development.
