The theme of our project “Using TICE, we will become better teachers” was chosen as a result of the application of a questionnaire about the analysis of the needs of continuous training for the teaching staff from “George Cosbuc” school, in Iasi. A number of 35 teachers from our school mentioned the fact that they needed training for the development of their IT skills, in order to use them in class, with their students. In October 2014, the European project commission of our school initiated a placement abroad. This placement is useful not only for the teachers from the primary education (who have to be able to use the digital manuals offered by the Ministry of Education), but also for the secondary education staff, because they feel the need to improve their teaching methods, in order to prevent the loss of interest and respect of the students and parents for our school situated on the outskirts of the city. We mention that our IT laboratory has thirty new computers, all connected to the Internet. It is a recent sponsorship – February 2015 – on behalf of Kaufland supermarket from Iasi. The objectives of our project are: 1) The improvement of the IT skills, in order to use them in class activities 2) The improvement of the quality of teaching through the observation of good examples 3) The development of our teachers’ linguistic skills, in order to prepare them for more mobilities in European Union and for more partnerships abroad 4) The discovery and the appreciation of the cultures and traditions of our neighbors, in order to facilitate knowledge transfer. 5) The improvement of the internationalization of our school, especially that of the cooperation among countries. As a result of a selection of our teachers, the advisory commission of our school chose a number of 8 teachers (from primary and secondary education and different subjects) to benefit from the training abroad. After consulting the different offers of educational training, we chose Tellus Group organization from UK, which, through the course “Teaching with technology”, offers us the possibility to improve our IT skills, in order to use TICE in class activities. We began the collaboration with our host organization, by establishing the technical and financial details and by making the agreement of partnership. From September 2015 to May 2016, all the necessary preparations will be done for the trip abroad, in collaboration with the host organization: the accommodation reservation, the local transport, the delivery of Europass Mobility document, the signature of contracts between our school and the National Agency; the booking of our tickets, the health insurance and the map distribution, the linguistic and intercultural preparations. During the training placement (27th of June – 8th July 2016 and 29th August 2016 and 9th September 2016), the responsible with the monitoring will analyze the quality of the placement and of the accommodation offered by Tellus Group. The dissemination activities will take place between May and October 2016. In October 2016 the project portfolio and the final report will be completed. During the project activities, but also after its ending, the impact of this mobility will be measured on eight teachers, on our institution and our host organization. We are sure that this placement will have a positive impact on our professional and personal development, because we will improve our IT linguistic and intercultural skills. The use of TICE technologies by our educational staff will improve our teaching methods, so our students will be more interested in school activities and their school results will be better. The dissemination of all the pieces of information of our project Erasmus + will have a positive impact on other teachers from our school and other schools, at the local, national and European levels. All of these will increase our school prestige and that of the teachers who want a change in the Romanian Educational system.
