Uso de la razón y competencia lingüística
Date du début: 1 juil. 2014, Date de fin: 30 juin 2016 PROJET  TERMINÉ

In the age of information, we've noticed that pupils usually study in a mechanic and passive way. They normally don't use their reason nor their critical skills. At the same time, they are unable to write or communicate orally their thoughts following a logical structure and using a suited vocabulary. For this reason, our school, Colegio Internacional J. H. Newman, has worked out an International Teacher Training Project whose principal aim is the development of reason through classes and personal studying. This will improve pupils' learning skills (Competence: Learning to learn). This process will be possible only if we enhance the Linguistic Competence in every subjects as reason is deeply connected to language. We will carry out our project in two directions. On one hand, we will do job shadowing activities in three different Italian schools that put into practice the linguistic theory of professor Eddo Rigotti, based on the Argumentation Theory that helps to achieve classes based on critical dialogue. On the other hand, a group of teachers will improve their competences in foreign languages in order to use the new argumentative method without problems of fluency or vocabulary. During the job shadowing, our Primary and Secondary teachers will have the possibility of observing the methodology we are interested in. They will be able to analyze the dynamic of different argumentative classes based on critical dialogue. Then, they will have the opportunity of talking with the Italian teachers about type of exercises, educational resources, adaptation of the method to the age of pupils, evaluation criteria, etc. Although the three schools use the same method, each of them is specialized in a particular pedagogical aspect: Language and Literature, with great success in writing and oral expression (Istituto Sacro Cuore), mathematical language and reasoning (Liceo Alexis Carrel), and team coordination in teaching Mother Tongue at different stages of Primary School in order to achieve a progressive development of the skills belonging to this competence (Istituto Tirinnanzi, Scuola Primaria L'Arca). During the two years project 28 teachers will travel to visit the three associated schools in Italy. From Secondary School they will be 7 of Spanish (mother tongue) Department, including teachers dedicated to special need pupils, 6 of Mathematics, 1 of Foreign Languages, 2 of Science, 2 of History and 2 coordinators or the headteacher. From Primary School, they will be 4 teachers belonging to different departments (Spanish as mother tongue, History or Science), and 4 coordinators or the Headteacher. On the other hand, 10 teachers will travel to attend training courses dealing with Linguistic Competence. Among them, 8 belong to different departments of Primary and Secondary School (4 each) because we hope that one day they could teach their subject using the CLIL methodology. While 2 teachers of the English and Italian Departments will be chosen to travel in order to innovate teaching method about how to write and speak in a foreign language. In the long term, the result we pursue is that pupils could improve some of the skills related with the use of reason. This will be chased especially in teaching those subjects dealing with Mathematics, Mother Tongue and Foreign Languages Key Competences. The project success will be verified at two different levels. On one hand, our teachers should have developed their pedagogical abilities in order to teach pupils to learn. On the other hand, we hope to reach better academic results, both from and individual and collective point of view. With this purpose, we hope that our project activities will have the following impacts: a) the project results and achievements will be assimilated to the departments' work. b) the syllabus of each subjects will be modified in method, activities and evaluation criteria of competences. c) some of the pedagogical proposals will be assimilated to the Document of Teaching Common Patterns and some of the acquisitions regarding Linguistic Competence will be used transversely in all subjects.
