USING VIDEO AND IMAGE AT THE ENGLISH CLASS The school Angeleta Ferrer is located in the city of Mataró, 30 km from the city of Barcelona. It's an Infant and Primary School. Two years ago we were located in the downtown but in November 2013 we were moved to another neighborhood, far from the center, due to an imminent danger of demolition of the buiding. Nowadays, we are waiting for our own new building planned for the 2017 which will be located in the same area of influence than the older one. The philosophy of the center includes three specific educational projects: A science project, a press projects and an audiovisual and new technologies project. It's in this lat one where we are going to focuss our work and receive the training. Furthermore, in the last years, the management team have given a very significant role to the English language learning- teaching process, increasing lessons and reducing the number of students per group into a half. It is important to say that the English language is introduced at the age of four in a playful, oral and very functional way. The results of the " Competencies Bàsiques" that are passed to end the primary by the Generalitat de Catalunya, give us satisfactory results, which in most years we placed above the average of Catalunya. So, taking advantage of the good level and motivation of our students, our goal would be to start working with the CLIL-AICLE methodology in some sessions of audiovisuals (An own school subject). And gradually increasing the level of involvement and spreading of the project. The most important goals of our project are: - Improve the training of our teaching staff in the use of the English language and new technologies. - Improve the communicative competence in theEnglish level of our students. - Encourage participation in European exchange projects. - Encourage European awareness and interest in intercultural educational community. The project would be: Fifth and sixth grade, students receive four weekly English sessions and one ofaudiovisuals . The project proposes that the audiovisuals sesion could be used to work all the videos and presentations that want to share with other members of the eTwinning projects. Using English as vehicular main language and motivating them to use it. CLIL-AICLE methodology to develope all proposed work of eTwinning projects or exchange with other centers. The person who will receive the specific training will be the English specialist with the very close cooperation of ICT specialists who will receive the feedback of the training before starting the course. The chosen course will be: "Video and Image in Language Teaching". Course coordinated by Jamie Keddie, master in this matter. The institution offering the course is NILE (Norwich- UK). The dates are from 20th to 31st. July 2015. The project will start being implemented in the center in September 2015. With this project we hope to achieve: - Improved language proficiency of participating teachers but especially our students. - Application of new methods of teaching in English. - Preparation of new projects of European exchange. - Creation of videos and presentations to capture and develope the work done in the different European projects. - Introduce the experience to colleagues and encourage them to participate in European programs in future calls. Evaluation: We will seek to analyze the level of implementation of new methodologies in different subjects and courses and improving the linguistic competence of the students and their involvement in European projects.
