Date du début: 4 mai 2015, Date de fin: 3 mai 2016 PROJET  TERMINÉ

Urban Stories Experience – Introducing Tbilisi (USE-IT) is 2 months group EVS project held in the capital city of Georgia, Tbilisi, during the period of May 15th to July 15th, 2015. USE-IT EVS will bring together 10 volunteers from the following countries: Czech Republic, Poland, Republic of Macedonia and Denmark in order to work on creating an alternative, creative map of the city, targeted for young travelers and backpackers, which will be based on the principles of USE-IT Europe maps. (http://www.use-it.travel/home) Volunteers directly involved in the activity are active young people from above mentioned countries, aged from 18 to 30, who have strong motivation and interest in related topics, such as urban issues, design and web-development. By working on the Use-it Tbilisi map both the EVS volunteers gain skills, knowledge and attitudes that will be important to them to be active members of their community and global society (critical thinking, skills in using new media, inter-cultural sensitivity, communication etc.) and to be more aware of the opportunities how to be involved and how to make an impact on solving various issues of their community. Hence the main aim of the project is to apply an alternative entrepreneurial approach to the urban areas, especially amongst young people, engage them in active exploring and transforming the public spaces towards their needs while preserving a sensitivity to their cultural, social and historic value. During two months a group of 10 volunteers will live in Tbilisi, work in the intercultural team, learn how to organize their work, communicate with each other and cooperate also with the local volunteers, explore and understand the cultural and place-specific characteristics, so they can finally transform this experience into the material map that will serve to many other youngsters, volunteers and travelers. Particular objectives of the EVS project are: - to create an alternative cultural map of Tbilisi, engaging the local and international volunteers, initiating intense intercultural dialogue. - to promote volunteering amongst the international volunteers but also in the community of youngsters from Tbilisi and give an example of an impact of the volunteers’ work - to empower the young people to have an entrepreneurial approach to exploring new places and cultures but also their own culture - to let the youngsters perceive and understand some of the cultural specifics and current issues related to youth and life in Georgia - to develop the media, social, cultural, as well as soft competences of young people involved in the project The presented EVS will have a wide direct impact in Tbilisi as it will be used during upcoming Tbilisi Youth Olympic Festival during which the city will be hosting about 5000 young volunteers and visitors who will be using our map on the daily basis to explore, understand and enjoy Tbilisi. The dissemination of the project results will be done through several levels and it will ensure very high visibility of our project. First of all, many printed maps will be spread amongst the Tbilisi Youth Olympic Festival volunteers with a support of Youth Department of Tbilisi Municipality. The map will be also available to anyone for free on the special website Use-it Tbilisi that will be created for this purpose and also on the general website of Use-it Europe project www.use-it.travel. From those websites the travelers can download the maps for free, print them and use them. Finally, the maps will be also available in the offices of the hosting organization in Tbilisi where a visitor desk run by volunteers will be placed and in all the partner organizations of this project where they will be available to anyone for free.
