UrBike - Maximiser l'intégration urbaine de la bicyclette (UrBike)
Date du début: 31 déc. 2003, Date de fin: 27 févr. 2007 PROJET  TERMINÉ

All too often, cycling as a means of urban transport is a matter of tradition rather than the result of a conscientious attempt to alleviate mobility problems. UrBike has been proposed to address the lack of interest in everyday problems faced by cyclists. The authorities run the risk of not applying the most suitable measures to solve problems and of missing out on the benefits of an important tool for sustainable development. UrBike plans to deal with specific problems for cyclists in the partner cities such as insufficient facilities, lack of awareness of cyclists needs, etc. Overall objective / Objectif général The UrBike approach includes the sharing of experiences, the creation of synergies and the development of a new way of working that is based on the end user. UrBike brings together cities that are experienced with cycling policies, cities that have achieved an intermediate level of results, and cities that have not yet started to deal with this problem. Previous European projects covered other aspects or had different approaches, such as the quality of urban facilities, public policies and themed campaigns. Expected results / Résultats attendus UrBike will focus on good practices found among local groups: identification of the main problems faced by urban cyclists; decision on measures and public policies to deal with such problems. This new expertise should lead to the creation of a tool (based on training sessions, for example) for disseminating, among the largest possible number of cities, methods for achieving good results in sustainable urban transport. This experience will also lead to the identification of regulatory requirements for developing sustainable urban transport.
