Our school Geislabaugur was established in 2004 so we are now starting our 11th year. During this time much has changed and our understanding and practise has developed. We feel it is time now to stretch out and seek for knowledge outside our own country. Geislabaugur has not been part of any official European program before so this application to Erasmus is our first step to seeking professional knowhow and experience on a multinational level. From the very start we have been working within the ideology of Loris Malaguzzi named after his town in Italy, Reggio Emilia. Pedagogical documentations are very important part of the practise, they are the teachers device to measure and evaluate what the child knows, how it learns and thinks. In Geislabaugur the teachers use pedagogical documentations to make visible the child´s knowledge. Our main goal, with the help of Erasmus is for as many of our teachers as possible to be able to visit and study at the Loris Malaguzzi International Center in Reggio Emilia to get the best education and knowledge available at the headquarters of the Reggio Emilia ideology itself. Our goal is for all our teachers to practise pedagogical documentations with deep understanding and knowledge. Directors of the school are responsible for giving the teachers opportunity to share new knowledge with other teachers and staff on various occations such as common workdays, small group meetings , workshops and lectures. This way we feel that new expriences and knowlegde is best implemented in all our work with the children.
