Unpack the Arts - residency programme for cultural journalists

"Unpack the Arts" welcome cultural journalists to offer them residencies in the framework of festivals, to develop critical discourses and circulation of knowledge, to further their role towards the (circus) arts and nowadays societies.Together, partners aim to:- Provoke a positive change for (new) media users, press readers... – the general public – with more opportunities to hear/ read about contemporary circus shows and new artistic forms- Raise cultural journalists’ awareness of the contemporary circus scene, an emerging growing sub-sector of the European performing arts field- Help both the cultural journalists and the circus promoters to develop a critical discourse on new trends, including tackle the specific ‘stage writing’ used by the worldwide artists in their process- Root again the practice of cultural journalism in cosmopolitism and experiment a European residency scheme- Create and foster opportunities for critics, artists and cultural workers to explore new connections, by being mobile and expanding their skills and knowledgeTo achieve these goals, we propose a project to:- Organise 12 four-day residencies in the framework of festivals taking place in the 8 partner countries- Spread calls for applications to critics working in the performing arts field and select 120 beneficiaries from the EU- Publish 12 digital publications including the texts commissioned to participants after the residencies (multilingual and in English)- Commission On-the-Move a research to gather the information on mobility schemes available for cultural journalists in the EU, and publish the results under the format of a directory/guideAll publications will be disseminated free of charge at EU level. The partners taking part into the project are all active members of the Circostrada Network - European platform for information, research and professional exchanges. They all used to working together to design and implement strategies and international project.
