The Project “A bridge towards Europe” belongs to a wide and lasting international Program of development and modernization. It has promoted efficient and relevant activities of mobility and education for all the school staff. The foreseen Structured Courses and Job Shadowing activities have been organized not only on the formative needs of each participants but above all on the real necessities of the whole Institute. They have been integrated into the curriculum and into the strategies of development of the school and are having a relevant impact on the quality of "Teaching and Learning Process". The Liceo Scientifico Statale “Leonardo da Vinci” proposes to its students a didactic-training curriculum aimed at the acquisition of knowledge, competences and abilities to form a critic and autonomous conscience. In the previous years, the Liceo was characterized not only by an attention towards the youth’s problems but also to the activities of Education to the European Citizenship. Moreover, it has been a cultural centre of training for a European dimension of innovation, internationalization, and modernization. That’s why it has been important for the school to leave the national borders and self-reference to open itself to internationalism, to entrust Education with an important role in the governance of a changing world. The pre-established objectives aimed at: • developing the competences of the whole school staff ( Teaching, Training, Languages, TIC, Management/Administration, Systems and Policy of Education), • producing changes in terms of modernization and internationalization of the Institute; increasing the quality of the “Teaching/Learning Process”; implementing the sympathies towards social, linguistic, cultural differences; • increasing the professional opportunities; • improving the knowledge of foreign languages; • increasing the motivation and the satisfaction in one’s daily work. The project provided 29 mobilities for the school staff to take part to intensive Structured Courses of 15 days or to Job Shadowing experiences of a week. Both the foreseen actions had the aim of offering not only a language renovation but also relationship techniques and innovative, personalized, didactic approaches answering the noticed needs. The main priority was to have access to a continuous training in the areas of the interactive teaching, the new learning environments, the network, the development of new techniques of teaching; in particular the CLIL, a didactic approach focused on the construction of linguistic competences and communicative abilities in foreign languages together with the development and acquisition of subjects knowledge. As regard the Job Shadowing activity, the aim was to observe, to teach in the language of communication and to exchange experiences with the foreign colleagues. It has been offered to the teachers the opportunity of acquiring new strategies of both teaching and evaluation and provided the participants with competences, techniques and methods to be used in their everyday activity. In addition, the job shadowing has proved to be the best action to favour the exchange of experiences and good practices, to stimulate the use of foreign languages and to collaborate with teachers of different countries to contribute to the concrete realization of the European dimension of education. The project respected the following “steps”: • planning the activity of training mobility for the staff; • choosing the action more functional to our school, in harmony with the noticed formative necessities; • selecting the participants according to coherent and well identified criteria; • preparing the activity of mobility; • implementing the activities of mobility; • organizing the follow-up. Dissemination has proceeded according to the state of the project updating the school website with multimedia material and filling the European dissemination platform. Moreover, reports were sent to institutions, parents and local newspapers. The activity of mobility has given impulse to socialization and sharing experiences, increasing the quality and the efficiency of the “Teaching/Learning Process” in the whole school. The impact had in the daily life of the school has been of great importance in terms of improving didactic strategies and modernizing the education system. The training experience had by a lot of teachers and management/administration members was documented on the website of the school and shared on good practices platforms. The school staff has been encouraged in the use of the results, the products, the innovative processes and to the exchange of good practices in order to improve the quality of Education and Training at a European level, too.
