Üstün Zekâlıların Eğitimi
Date du début: 1 juil. 2014, Date de fin: 30 juin 2016 PROJET  TERMINÉ

Most gifted children around the world are vulnerable to not having educational opportunities and programs that match their abilities, which results in suffering from boredom in regular classrooms. With the establishment of Bilim ve Sanat Merkezleri (BILSEMs) in Turkey, gifted learners seem to be given the opportunity to learn with pupils at their pace. However, the teachers who work in these centres are usually left alone to grope about identifying the characteristics of gifted learners and meeting their needs. Teachers selected to work with gifted students in these gifted centres have high knowledge and research skills supported with their academic career. Their knowledge of the field and methodology help them in the process. However, the fact that they are usually the only source of model and knowledge related to gifted education in their city, they thirst for other similar work in other gifted education environments, especially in other countries. Special attention has been attached giftedness throughout the history; thus, countries have different organizations and education programs specifically designed for the gifted. Since these gifted centres constitute a very little community in the general population, sharing knowledge and experience is quite important for the teachers in these centres. This kind of exchange not only provides introducing what we do in our country in this specific field, but also gives the educational staff the opportunity to learn about what is done for this special population in other countries. This project aims to provide all the teachers of the gifted in the institution with the opportunity to share knowledge and experience in the field of gifted education through the training events. The project aims to be conducted with Educational staff who is all experienced in gifted education in Turkey. 15 teachers are going the visit three countries and receive and organized training regarding the gifted education training in those countries. The teachers are enthusiastic about improving their teaching through the experience they gain in these programs. All the educational staff is given the equal opportunity to participate in the events. The three countries included in the project will be visited in a group of 5 teachers in each turn. It is planned that the educational staff will visit the centres which provide systematic training to the gifted as well as inform the teachers about the system in their country. The project also aims to introduce the gifted education in Turkey. It is hoped that interactive programs and discussions among teachers will have positive effects on teachers’ methodology. The training events will be shaped by the specific needs of the educational staff participating from Turkey. Since this is an invaluable opportunity for the educational staff in the centre, the project will enable to share information through systematic reports and meetings. Given the highly talented and motivated education staff, as well as the gifted students who are the final and most important beneficiary of the present project, these training events are expected to have very positive effects on the education provided in our institution.
