The "Two Nations. One Passion." project is centred on the idea of reaching a deeper mutual understanding between the nations of uniting Europe and her neighbours by taking a closer look at their culture and traditions. We believe, that only through knowledge we can accomplish tolerance, and that is the positive effect we hope to achieve. The participants of the project, two groups of young people, are joined by a common passion for dance and photography, both of which will play a key role in our activities. Traditional dances, as well as relations shown in them, make for a perfect portrayal of the national character of inhabitants of a country. They are deeply enrooted in the culture of the place they stem form. That is why we decided to use them as a looking glass when searching for differences and similarities between our nations. Photography on the other hand, allows us to capture the passing moment and share it with a larger audience. Thus, it is a medium perfectly suited for documenting our findings made throughout the project, as well as leaving a wide range of freedom when creating visual statements on important matters. Our project is designed to be an exchange of two groups of participants. It will take place in Poland, in the town of Drohiczyn, between the 12th and the 22nd of August 2014. During 11 days of project activities, a group of 36 people - 18 of them from Poland and 18 form Georgia - will take a closer look at the character of polish national dances, try to capture it on photos and finally look for its roots in culture, religion and history. The main methods used will be dance and photography workshops allowing us to gather the material, which we can than, discuss among ourselves and with members of the local community. We planned to bind all our activities with a kind of an urban game divided in two parts. The first will take place at the beginning of the project and will provide us with photos showing a stereotypical look on Poles and Poland. The second part, placed after all other activities during which we will hopefully expand our knowledge of both the people and our home cultures, will grant us the opportunity to check, whether we managed to reach our main goal and achieved a deeper understanding between nations. The use of photography will give us more possibilities in spreading the effects of our project. We plan to keep a photoblog and social media profiles updated on a daily basis throughout the duration of the project. We will also prepare a photostory in form of a photobook and organize exhibitions in cooperation with institutions of culture and art and embassies in both our countries.
