Twist the Staff!
Date du début: 1 oct. 2014, Date de fin: 30 sept. 2016 PROJET  TERMINÉ

The aim of this project is to increase the quality of our services and to improve the offer for our clients. At the same time, we also want for our employees to create a learning and teaching environment which can make flourish their talents and develop their skills. They have to be aware of the added value that they can find in working with us. Fields of improvement: 1. Training for the teaching staff 2. Quality of the working conditions for teachers – they feel supported by the institution and each other thanks to the community built 3. Quality of the courses delivered by the institution 4. Quality of the school management 5. Position regarding the market and competitors. In order to achieve these goals, they need international contacts with teachers and organizations from different countries so that they can exchange their points of view and expertise with others and they can consciously enrich their style of working with best practice examples and expertise gathered in different environments and situations. On the other hand, we have clients who come to us to learn foreign languages and cultures. Having an international experience on European level makes us more trustworthy in terms of passing over the knowledge our teachers have got not only theoretically but as well practically. Ideally, we become for our clients a kind of reference point with international contacts in Europe. Thanks to international experience, we can as well look for new solutions too when it comes to managing our institution and try to adapt managing models to our conditions and environments. In our project we planned different mobilities for teaching staff and different ones for managing staff, as their needs are not the same. Management staff For our staff we have identified some educational actions to be undertaken in the next two years of the project. At a management level, our institution, even if it belongs to a small size company profile, we need to keep updated on the newest educational tools offered on the market. Therefore, we want to attend different conferences on educational innovations. Teaching staff The staff of ILS works as teachers for foreigners and trainer of Italian native speakers who want to become Italian language teachers as LS/L2 (all the staff of Italian received the DITALS II certification from the University of Siena). Some components of the staff have the responsibilities of designing and carrying out LLP programmes. They work as language trainers, teacher staff managers, educators in international language fairs (ALPHE, ICEF, WYSTC, StudyWorld, WEBA, etc.) and educational project designers (Grundtvig, Leonardo, Europe for Citizens and now Erasmus Plus). Regarding to approaches and methodologies, our staff offers teacher training for adults, many of them are able to coordinate teaching staff management and all of them use effective approaches and methods to manage the arousal of conflicts either in foreign language classrooms or as a teaching staff managers. Still, this is one of the aspects which have to be developed through this project (see the European Development Plan above). Because of the fact that their students are mostly adults coming from different countries, the teachers of our institution are able to work with very heterogeneous target groups which requires the use of specific didactical methodologies. 1. The knowledge and ability to wide use a range of web 2.0 and other internet tools: A 21st century teacher needs to have a complete knowledge, competence and preparation about the opportunities offered by web 2.0 for his/her own didactic work. In a language course it will be ever more important and fundamental the use of new tools, such as wikis, blogs, podcasts, videos, and taking advantage of social networks potentialities. These new technologies are a very useful resource to increase and keep high the motivation of students. 2. Knowledge of new developments in teaching: The philosophy of our school is to be always updated, so what we expect from this project is to deepen particularly the flipped classroom, distance learning and the use of the main e-learning platforms. 3. Improved language skills used in a professional setting: For the above mentioned reasons, our staff needs to improve a specific language competences, so the attendance to the courses of the project will provide us the necessary skills essential at work. 4. An improved ability to handle difficult situations in a professional context: What we would like to learn in this project is also how to change some difficult situations in learning opportunities. Improving the strategies to make better decisions through critical thinking and creative problem solving, confirming and developing our personal creativity and transforming it into practical learning solutions.
