Even though there might be some negative factors sourcing from outside of our country and conjecture, the tourism sector in Turkey displayed an exceptional performance in 2013. While Turkey hosted 34,9 million tourists last year, the total number of visitors to our country from abroad including the citizens living outside Turkey was 39 million people. The private companies of the sector have been of significance as Turkey’s potential for tourism is extremely high. While 2,6% of all companies in Turkey operates in tourism sector, 4,6% of all employers are employed in the sector. (Tourism Sector Analysis Report, 2013). The staff to be employed should be of expected qualities due to high potential. It is significant that people working in tourism should have capabilities to satisfy the needs and expectations of foreign tourists as they will be interacting with them all the time. In this respect, the project supported by our National Agency aims at making our students experience life abroad, improving their vocational skills in accord with European standards, providing opportunities for the students getting acquainted with European people, raising awareness on the importance of their jobs and improving the skills of foreign language. We are expecting that our gains acquired by the students will turn into qualified employment as an outcome of this project. The project will contribute to the institutional needs as well as the needs of the individuals. It will also be beneficial in developing strategies for international cooperation for our institutional organization and have our education programs acquire a European dimension and we will move forward on globalization. Thus, good examples of techniques and methods used by European nations will be transferred to our country regarding education curricula and internship activities. The project has the capacity to lead to improvements in our institutional capacity and education curricula in our country in the long term. Moreover, it will also contribute to training highly qualified staff to meet requirements of tourism sector in Turkey.
