TubeWorks!
Date du début: 1 juin 2016, Date de fin: 31 mai 2017 PROJET  TERMINÉ

The main activity in this project will be a youth exchange of 40 young people (plus 8 youth workers) from 4 countries (Finland, Russia, Ireland and Portugal) in October 2016 in Hyvärilä youth centre, Nurmes, Finland for 9 days TubeWorks! - youth exchange. The project has one main activity, a youth exchange for 9 days in October 2016. The main aim of the project will be linked to the agendas of media education, and understanding better technology and the digital world as a tool for self-expression and self-actualisation. The project will offer a process for the participants where through creating, using and exploring media they can learn about their selves as well as develop their competencies. It is also foreseen that through the active “hands-on approach” we’ll manage to create a comfortable setting for intercultural learning, awareness of ones self and others, and peer support to take place, in a positive and meaningful way. Participants will engage their selves in the topics of media and technology through workshops ran before, during and after the exchange. The focus will be on creating audiovisual media content by theme (e.g. from their own preference / life situations), learning how can it / could it influence others around them, and how to can they deal with media in responsible and beneficial way. The project will also have an analytic approach, e.g. collecting data of media releases or making a small-scale media surveys, as well as conceptualising so some global phenomena and how they affect the young people. From the participants’ point of view the main idea is to achieve “learning badges” (Open Badge) as a recognition of learning. Badges can be earned by learning and practicing skills but also by sharing knowledge with others. One important aim is to have continuity on media educational work in participants’ own local communities and social networks afterwards. This will be practiced during the exchange by an Open Doors / Media Education Day project for local schools during the last days of the exchange. The exchange program will be partially based on pre-assignments and defined by the ideas generated during the preparation phase of the exchange (August 2016 onwards). Some of the workshops are in fact, starting before exchange via social media channels. Some of workshops will also continue after the exchange. The program of the exchange will be a balanced mixture of workshops, leisure activities, cultural dialogue, and will be supported and reflected also through daily reflections e.g. in form of video diary / Vlogging. There will also be some “pop-up workshops” depending on what subjects participants are willing to bring up and share with others. One of these could be talking about national level media “hot topics” as a way to learn from cultural differences (or similarities).
