The Comenius partnership develops European Pre-school children´s awareness of cultural diversity in Estonia, The United Kingdom (England and Northern Ireland), Romania. We plan to involve staff, children and their parents in cross-curicular learning and teaching in a highly motivational theme of “The Travelling Toys” to inspire children to learn about their own other countries’ culture. As children are too small to travel themselves, they send their dolls wih staff on the “mobilities” to visit partners. Before that they have to prepare for the trip: find out about the travelling and about the recieving country; supply greeting dances and songs. After the visits, staff use the dolls to communicate their impressions of the other countries and their cultural arts . Therefore staff will establish a European dimension in the school community and curriculum, creating an atmosphere which will promote the development of creativity, imagination, critical thinking and social sensitivity of every child. Cooperation with European colleagues supports teachers by: improvements in pedagogical approches and teaching skills by sharing and comparing their experiece; improve their modern foreign language skills; develop their ICT skills; personal development that will be used to enrich their professional work.
