TERMINÉ
In recent years, the necessity of learning foreign language has increased in relation to the new challenges that an intercultural and multilingual identity requires. It is for this reason that we designed the project “ Crossing borders through the improvement of competences and intercultural teachers’ skills” in the Infant and Primary School “Gaeta Huguet” from Castellon. This project is within the European Development Plan and at the same time contributes to improving the Multilingual Program of the school. The school has a PPEV (multilingual education program in Valencian from 3 to 12 years old), due to the linguistic diversity in our community. We are aware of the necessity to use a common methodological approach that integrate the different languages of our curriculum from the early ages and to increase the integration and transference between the three languages, for this reason, our pupils start to learn English when they are three years old and start Infant education. Moreover, from the school year 2014-15, with the new frame introduced by the Organic Law to Improve the Quality of Education (LOMCE) we also teach in English several subjects as P.E and Music, now is being taught in year 1 and 2, and will be introduced progressively to year 6, following the methodology CLIL, because integrating content and language we are not just learning a language but using that language to learn, and this increase our students skills in order to achieve Communicative Competence, as the CEFR (2001) established in its guidelines. Thus, the center has decided to request the Action 1 (Mobility for teacher training) with the aim of improving the quality of education with a focus on internationalization. It is for this reason that we summarize the objectives we try to achieve with this project as the followings:1. To improve teachers’ communication skills in foreign language in a European cultural environment to help us internationalize our educational institution.2. To Know and experience new CLIL methodological strategies to help the development of communicative competence of our students.3. To develop digital competence applied to teaching. To carry out the project are involved a total of 7 teachers from different specialties and different experiences, they have a proficiency level in foreign language of at least one B2 according to the CEFR and are participating in the plurilingualism program of the school teaching non linguistic areas in English. This project involves performing previous activities to the mobility, during and after mobility. Among the preparation we can find: -Speaking workshop -Courses in English language improvement, - Communication with other teachers through e-twining projects, etc.The activities are all based on structured courses that are related to the identified needs of the center, which will include:-Courses that uses CLIL Methodology.-Courses to improve our language skills.-Courses to use new technologies in teaching.-Course with specific methodology in Physical Education.Regarding the different activities we are planning to do after mobility in order to share our project throughout the educational community we will do the following activities:-Workshops to the teacher's cloister, parents and school board in which we explain our experiences in mobility, where we will try to transmit methodological strategies.-Make a slide show, so that each tutor can present it to his students.-To create, within the school website, a new section based on Erasmus +, in which the experiences, activities and results are shared with the school community.- The cultural week, where new technologies, language skills and develop CLIL methodology will take place in the school.-in order to work in an international level we will use the E-twinning tool, to keep in touch with other teachers and make connections with other schools via Skype to share joint projects and learning.Once the courses are completed, our aim is not only to supply our needs, but the main objective is to have a big impact on our center and society. This implies a cultural change in the life of the center, integrating it into the European dimension. The main beneficiaries of this project will be our students, as they will experience new methodological and cultural resources from different European countries, developing different core competencies and getting fundamentally improve their English language skills. As for the evaluation of the project, we will use headings that allow us to assess both the mobilities of each participant as the project itself. In conclusion, the school management and all the teachers are highly motivated with the project. Our goal is ambitious but realistic; it tries to make the Gaeta Huguet a reference center, model and guide for other schools to follow our trail when they applied a CLIL methodology. We are aware of the importance to belong to the European Union and we should all contribute a bit to
