The youth exchange “Trash” will be hosted by AMC and take place in a Youth Centre in the city centre of Lisboa-Portugal, during 8 days (3-10 October 2011) with the participation of 20 youngsters from Portugal, France, Spain, Italy and Netherlands.The project will focus on including youngsters with fewer opportunities (from suburbs, immigrants’ families with a low standard of living, disabilities or learning difficulties, suffer from discrimination or social exclusion) to improve their non-formal education, trans-national mobility, participation, active citizenship, empowerment and inclusion in society at large and practice communicating critical topics of their communities. The exchange is an expansion of the project “Otesha Experience” that aims to educate youngsters about sustainable development issues. This exchange focuses on the subject of recycling through artistic mediums – theatre, multimedia and workshops of recycled art. The title refers to the subject of recycling and recycled materials that will be the starting point and background of all activities.The participants will be regrouped several times and have different tasks and responsibilities to ensure diversity and give everyone the opportunity to work with different people: theatre team will help organize workshops of costumes, puppeteering and theatre scenery; recycled arts team will do modelling art, graffiti, drawing, painting; multimedia group will make videos and photos about the exchange for daily posts in the blog and the organizations’ websites, an important part of visibility and continuity of the project.Every participating country has special activities that it is responsible for. Before the exchange they will prepare to teach those activities to other groups. The activities are arranged so that they complement each other and culminate in a performance in the end. All the materials and technical devices necessary for carrying out the activities will be provided by the Youth Centre.
