Transfer of Materials Library

The main aim of this project was to provide the lifelong vocational education of professionals, who are active in the creative spheres, to provide a source of independent information on materials, which is essential for the success on the very competitive markets in CZ, SK, Europe, globally. The aim of this project was to increase the qualification of professionals, who deal with materials in the broadest sense. Project of Materials library was realized by three partners – Happy Materials (CZ), Materio (FR) and Design IN (SK). Happy Materials was managing the transfer of Materials library and added services form FR to CZ and SK and launched and ran the Materials library in CZ. Materio FR team provided the know-how. Design IN launched and ran Materials library in Bratislava. This project had got an ineligible partner - production company Ravak (CZ), which produces and exports sanitary products. Ravak supported this project and made use of all offerings (library, seminars, book, consultancy, newsletters) for its employees from the department of new product development. Source of independent information in materials – could improve and deepen knowledge of target group. Knowledge gained in vocational education in materials should increase competitiveness of individuals on labor market in segment of creative industries. Educated professionals should than influence competitiveness of CZ and SK companies on the market in CZ and SK (Europe, globally), by developing new sustainable products.Universities and secondary schools have no finance and resource to monitor, sort and implement information on recent developments in materials. Materials library, both on internet and physical, seminars, book, newsletters, consultancy, should help to fill in the gap in education of professionals from the creative industries by providing updated independent information on materials.Materials library in physical form (3D) provides several thousands samples of materials that can be touched, seen and smelled by the visitors. Internet materials library (WWW library) describes briefly each of these samples. Each material has its own ID card, consisting of a photo and text (basic chemical and physical properties, fabrication possibilities, contacts of producer or distributor). The libraries are opened 5 days a week. Librarians provide consultancy on specific subjects. The library itself hosted always 11 seminars in CZ and 8 in SK. Each seminar had its theoretical part, covering the chemical and physical properties of the material, addressing main fabrication methods, environmental issues (recyclability, energy consumption when produced, fabricated, recycled, toxicity, where is it sourced from, transport issue…). The theoretical part should help the respondent to acquire the competence to be able to evaluate the material from different angles. Not to simply choose the material based on price and availability, but to try to educate the respondents towards bigger responsibility in choosing materials, considering the variety of criteria, which come into count. The second part of the seminar included case studies from the real life situation and practice.
