The project TECH NETs main objective is the implementation of a model of sustainable local development in maritime villages of the Mediterranean Basin. These villages n represent a culture, an economy and a civilization connected with the environment. They are at risk of cultural, social and environmental degradation. It is necessary to have: • a connection between public and private bodies; • a standard methodology and planning quality; • a common instrument of planning; • a rehabilitation area map for the preservation of cultural-environmental patrimony respecting cultural traditions of the maritime villages. • A multidisciplinary Mediterranean centre. The objectives of the project are: • Development of the Mediterranean maritime villages • Improvement of public initiative. • Research and formulation of new approaches to socio-cultural problems of euro-Mediterranean countries with particular reference to maritime villages. • Individuation of influences and protocols for the economic development of the euro-Mediterranean countries oriented to tourism and activities related with it. Creation of a net among all the involved countries. • Creation of a Mediterranean Centre. • To ensure the environmental sustainability of the productive system. • Definition of a model of sustainable local development with particular reference to maritime villages but with the possibility of transferring it in other contexts. • Definition of strategies useful for regional planning (in Sicily and in other regions) Expected Results: • A model of local development. • New strategies for regional planning • Growth of the target territory. • Implementation of the Net. • Strengthening of the relationships among the stakeholders • Implementation of the network among partners and key-actors of the local development.
