Our project is based on an implementation of an international line in our middle school department. (Student in year 7-9) We want a structure, that includes students choosing a line of their own liking, the free choice motivating them to end Middle school and achieve an oppotunity to continue further into their senior training. It is our plan that the implementation of an international line will have a duration time of 5 years. Fase 1 includes a focus to enforce the competence of the teachers involved in order to work within an international dimension. Primarily this will involve a subject terminology adequate to the teaching language, namely English, IT-related teaching and didactics in an intercultural dimension. We also coorporating with a team based teacher, who's role is to secure the the continuety and liability of the project. We expect a group of 6 teachers to participate in fase 1, along with the group of involved leaders. Within the five year periode the full staff of teachers teaching the Middle Group will be involved in the project. Teachers participating in fase 1 are all teachers with an adequate education in relation to the subjects taught on the international line. We have chosen to focus on activities supplementing the teachers involved, partly in relation to the teaching language, partly in relation to the subjects studied on the international line. A number of teachers are participating in "job-shadowing", where the purpose is to follow experienced collegues teaching sciences and cultural based subjects in English. Further more a number of teachers will be following courses taught by experienced teachers teaching IT and didactics. Apart from the concrete teaching in class, it is our intention to supplement the collected effort by sharing experience and knowledge with the teaching teams at Danehofskolen. It is also our expectation that an international line and a defined intercultural dimension will reenforce the student's choice of school and keep them within the comprehensive school system, thus preventing early school drop outs.
