Trail of extinct and active volcanoes, earthquakes across Europe

“Trail of extinct and active volcanoes, earthquakes across Europe” is 3 years project carried out by students and secondary school teachers from Poland, Portugal, France, Spain, Turkey and Italy. It is the interdisciplinary project combining Biology, Geology, Seismology, Physics, Geography, Language Arts . It aims to provide students with the tools to study volcanoes in Volcano observatories and broader look at the problem of volcanoes. Our education, trainings for students and teachers in research centers, and professional development program have been designed to offer both formal and practical opportunities for students to expand their knowledge and abilities of making observation and measurements in seismology, using special equipment to do researches of volcanoes. The project will introduce innovative methods to teachers' work. The project involves special activities which will enrich lessons. The aims of the project is promotion of biodiversity of volcanoes to make people more aware of nature values, promotion of mountain tourism between students to lead healthy lifestyle, comparison of landscape, fauna and flora living in extinct volcanic area. Students will carry out observations of volcanic landscape, and will take some photos of nature. Students and teachers will make exhibition, web site, posters to promote the idea of the project. As a result open educational platform will be created to publish lesson plans, presentations, games and competitions. We want the project to help the society to understand the role of volcanoes for people and environment and make the citizens aware of the necessity to protect volcanoes areas. The end products and the exhibitions advertised by mass-media may make people being more responsible for nature. Thanks to the end products of this project, the students, teachers and the local community will become aware of role of volcanoes in tourism, environment, and impact on people.
