Tradition and reform in the Vocational Training of Catering trade (Gasztro-reform)

Catering trade and tourism have an outstanding role in the Bihar-Bihor region. The number of people making use of catering trade and tourism increases with the development of the quality of these two branches of industry. As a result, new workplaces are created. The representatives of the two schools have met on several occasions in order to realize the project idea, and to examine the education curricula related to catering trade and tourism. The general objective of the project is Improvement of the quality of catering trade training and improvement of employees chances to get jobs.Target groups: Young people between the ages of 14 and 23 in Bihar and Bihor counties.The main specific activities of the project and results are:I. Preparations, gathering data (survey with questionnaires, exchanging experience by teachers and students as well, getting to know places of village tourism, getting experience abroad).II. Instructional materials, website (bilingual collection of recipes, bilingual interactive website).III. Widening education and handing over experience (giving lectures on reformed cuisine, exchange of teachers, giving advice on eating habits, organizing competitions, food photo competition).IV. Enriching practical knowledge, joint practice activities (joint pig-killing, study trips, presentations by master chefs, presentations of reform cuisine in both schools, presentations of reform dinner, exchanging students in the workplace where they learn their trade, joint summer practice activity in Berettyoujfalu)V. PublicityMain results: trainings, instructional materials and cook book.
