Together to the goal
Date du début: 1 sept. 2016, Date de fin: 31 août 2017 PROJET  TERMINÉ

The project “Together to the goal” will be implemented at Tukums district multifunctional youth initiative centre. Implementation period is from 1st of August, 2016 till 31st of July, 2017. Youth activity in Tukums district is very low in many areas. Youth centre (YC) is very popular among children who have not yet reached the age of youth, however, very few young people come to the centre. The Youth centre wants to change it. European voluntary project is very suitable for this purpose. The project aims to diversify daily life of young people; to encourage them to show self-initiative; to allow them to see new ways of improving and educating themselves; to encourage meaningful leisure time activities; to develop civic consciousness and get acquainted with other cultures. Two volunteers will participate in the project. They will be 18 to 30 years old, with a willingness to engage in informal activities, with English language skills at a conversational level; responsive; full of initiative; friendly; sociable; flexible; open; willing to learn and teach; with a pride in their culture and interest in our country, history and culture. Gender, ethnicity, race, religion does not matter. Our candidates for volunteer's job do not need to have any particular experience in working with young people. The most important is that the volunteer would be interested in working with young people by showing his/her initiative.During the project, 2 volunteers will be working at the youth centre. Using their own ideas they will share knowledge about their culture, experience, opinion, different activities that will attract young people to, for example, sports games, board games, creative activities, informal events, video activities, cooking activities, dance activities, as well as activities tha twill develop English language skills. All activities will be carried out using informal methods. As a result of the project, two volunteers will be working at the Tukums district youth initiative centre for 9 months; YC will have created at least two new activities that would take place on a regular basis; volunteers will have actively collaborated with the Youth council and together will have organized several events; at least two volunteering work promotion events will have taken place; two mentors and one Latvian language teacher will be involved in the project. The project will affect all target groups of the project - volunteers, sending and host organisations, mentors and the community together, both directly and indirectly. At the end of the project, volunteers will have become familiar with new cultures and that will allow them to be more open to other cultures; they will be more confident about themselves and will have acquired new skills. They will have gained invaluable life experience. The project will diversify daily life of young people; it will raise the quality of young people lives; and it will diversify their opportunities. Active involvement and collaboration in the work and events organized by the Youth council will encourage young people's initiative and involvement in decision-making and public life and promote spending leisure time in a meaningful way. Sending organisation will increase its' experience in the field of collaboration, as well as gain new contacts and cooperation opportunities for other projects in future. Host organisation will attract more and more young people and thus it will help to achieve the above mentioned goals. Mentors will gain new experience in coming into contact with another culture, gain new communication skills and improve their foreign language skills. Activities of volunteers will be visible not just at the YC, but also in the entire district. The project will have an indirect impact at a national and European level - the society will be more aware of the voluntary work, Erasmus+ projects, the opportunities they offer, other cultures, as well as the need to be active at all levels.
