We have a need for a international cooperation with ASBR to increase our competency when working with our pedagogical documentation and communicating with preschool children, their guardians, and within our own team.Our Ambjörnsgårdens preschool team is comprised of ten preschool teachers and five child caretakers, three of them have long term experience in working with groups of children.Our child caretakers are as important as our preschool teachers in the daily functions and activities of our pre-school children. The competence and experience in our preschool teachers varies from newly graduated to those with long work experience. Our group of preschool teachers possess many core competencies from working in training school, working in collaborative projects with social workers, and experience gained by participating in school-work projects such as children's language and pre-school assignments.A cooperation agreement with ASBR that includes coursework, observation, cultural visits and teacher-led discussions will greatly increase our team common skills development. This effort will lead to improved work on educational documentation and give our team a deeper understanding of the Reggio Emilia educational philosophy and model and greatly enhance our quality of our entire preschool. It will increase staff consensus and raise staff skills in the areas of educational documentation, democracy, parental cooperation, aesthetic learning processes, observation, listening, communication, sustainable environment, pedagogical construction and social integration. Our team will also gain a greater understanding of how culture and history have contributed and shaped the inner workings of ASBR and deepen our knowledge on how and why the organization evolved to its current state. The best way to gain this understanding is by participating in cultural-based experiences and conversations with city residents.There is a need for internationalization. European perspectives on learning and training are obvious as we look at other European countries and their educational work in kindergartens to find new ways to work and develop. An exchange with Reggio Emilia preschools will increase our internationalization and give our team a broader perspective in training. This ultimately benefits our preschool children and by participating in this project our knowledge base regarding EU and its inherent diversity will increase our international expertise. Our staff will also develop greater skills overall and have greater self-confidence, a new openness to ideas and knowledge, and reflect on their own practices.We work according to the pre-primary unit of international strategy which is already incorporated in our school goals. In an international perspective, writing the curriculum for kindergarten places high demands on people’s ability to live with and understand the values inherent in cultural diversity. Swedish society imposes high demands on the ability of people to live with and understand these values. To properly convey this to our preschool children requires additional staff training.For ASBR this cooperation will benefit them by providing information on their own working methods as well as greater self-awareness and examination of their work. By cooperating with preschools in different countries, this will become an ongoing development process for ASBR and becomes part of their systematic development. ASBR also gains knowledge, information, and awareness of alternative Swedish work methods, and gain a broadened knowledge base that will inspire new ideas and methods.We fully expect our work with pedagogic documentation will strengthen our communication with preschool children, guardians and our own team. By learning ASBR’s systematic workings, our ability to review our current organizational development will be enhanced. We will develop methods to become better equipped to work with our school children's social inclusion. By raising our team skill levels, we strengthen our professional development and individually we become more employable in the labor market. Our work also gives visibility to our team’s importance in the daily activities of our children's lives and their future development. As our influence increases, we will also see our importance and positive impact on children’s lives which also leads to greater job satisfaction.Communication is a key tool if children are to maximise their development during their school experience. Communication is essential for success in school given all the different topics, interactions and class subjects that children are exposed to daily. If we give them better communication skills through the use of a number of different languages, then we also give them a better chance to succeed in the school environment. This early success will prevent early school leaving and the quest for higher education becomes a goal that is attainable and well worth pursuing.
