Erasmus + KA1 project at Tikka school: Improving skills to respond to the demands of the new curriculum 2016We are going to have a great curriculum reform in basic education in Finland this year. The aim of the new curriculum is to educate pupils with broad-based competence. The dimensions of broad-based competence are (7): - thinking and learning- cultural competence, interaction and expression- looking after oneself, managing daily activities, safety- multiliteracy- ICT competence- competence required for working life and entrepreneurship- participation, empowerment and responsibilityWe have to learn new skills/competences to be able to respond to the new demands of the curriculum. Our plan is to learn more about these themes in an international context. We are applying for a grant to take part in an international course in UK, Bath: New Initiatives in Teaching, Learning and Classroom Management. This course includes two visits to local schools as well. In addition, Tapani Hämäläinen is planning to do a study visit in Dene Magna School, Glousester. We participate in experiental learning project by visiting the Heritage City of Bath. We all will also take part in language lessons organinized by Merganser consulting.The aim is to develop pedagogic thinking and new teaching methods at our school.Our key subjects are:1. To get new ideas for assessment: developing peer assessment and self assessment.2. How to promote wellfare of the learning community: pupils and staff3. Utilization of ICT in learning4. Pupils' active participation/role in learning process5. Phenomena-based learningThe participants of the project are: Tapani Hämäläinen: classteacher, vice principalEila-Kaarina Asunmaa: classteacher, English teacherSarianna Görsoy: English teacher, classteacher We would share the knowledge we learn with the other teachers at Tikka school and in Jyväskylä city by organizing study meetings or workshops as well as writing a report of the learning outcomes. An international aspect on these points would utilize the whole learning community. With the help of our new experiences we would be able to develop teaching methods and pedagogic thinking at our school. The most important issue is that our pupils would benefit the learning outcomes of the project.
