THRABYZHE plans to research the existing data of Thracian and ByzantineHistory (TBH) of the Rhodopi mountains and the Northern Aegean coast and to restorate, utilize, and promote the cultural value of this heritage across the border through a viable and integrated tourist product, thus providing better livelihood and occupations for the local population. For the purpose of the utilization of the TBH in Municipality of Smolyan (MoS) is planned an archaeological terrain research, conservation and restoration works on two Byzantine fortresses in MoS territory; implementing activities to strengthen the attractiveness of the area comprise: joint research and exchange of good practices in utilization of TBH within the CBC area; promotion of the local heritage among local communities, journalists and tour operators; joint marketing of the rich TBH of the Municipalities of Smolyan and Samothrace development of cultural tourism routes. Expected Results: awareness raising, strengthened attractiveness and competitiveness of the common cb tourism products, upgraded Thracian and Byzantine heritage sites and improved tourist related infrastructure, popularized local Thracian and Byzantine heritage
