Think Globally!

The training course "Think Globally!" took place in Skopje (Macedonia), in March 2016. 32 participants from all over Europe and its neighboring regions (Finland, Germany, Romania, Hungary, Italy, Macedonia, Turkey, Greece, Poland, Tunisia, Armenia, Serbia and Denmark) improved their skills and competences through non-formal working methods, such as: group work, open space, world coffee method, discussions, simulations, role plays, peer learning and feedback, daily reflections, group building exercises, energizers, etc. Participants of the activity (youth workers actively involved in the daily work of their organizations) improved their knowledge in using creative multimedia tools, and exchanged good practices in order to gain digital and communication competences that will support them in the creation of media reports for and with young people, concerning global aspects, the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), global education, development and cooperation. The combination of methods used in the training course enables youth workers to promote global issues by using online media tools. Participants are encouraged to engage actively in global education and initiate projects on their own as well. Especially, as they also took part in an information session about funding opportunities, such as Erasmus+ Youth and project planning workshops as well. Youth workers acquired skills and knowledge how to engage youth in new media, digital creativity and encourage them to be active EU citizens. The implementation of action-oriented methods used during the training course intensively enhance the quality work with young people (incl. disadvantaged youth, NEETs and young people with migrant background supported by the youth workers) by educating new media skills, analytical / critical and creative thinking. During the training course, youth workers created short videos, reports, articles, blog and social media (Facebook) posts to disseminate the activity on social and community media platforms. Multipliers are enabled to train their local youth groups and to initiate discussions and reports about global engagement to achieve the Sustainable Development Goals, to promote active citizenship, to raise awareness about global issues and the North-South cooperation.
